Administrative Structure

ORGANIZATION
Although it is mentioned in the Veterans UN-NATO Canada rules of engagement that we will never have a structure, a certain administrative structure is necessary to manage the group.

An administrative structure was created and consists of volunteers who have agreed to manage the memberships, promote of the group and make sure the Rules of Engagement are respected.  Veterans UN NATO Canada being a private group, the positions are not voted, they are appointed.

NATIONAL COMMITTEE

The national committee will always represent all of Canada.

Derek Speirs (President);
Randy Stevenson (Vice-President – East);
Vacant (Vice-President – Central and French issues);
Christie Strazza (Vice-President – West);
Denis Simoneau (founder);
Owen Wiseman (Representant – Ontario);
Claude Cusson (QM);
Michel Martin (Padre);
Micheline Blanchette (Secretary); and
Gérard Marcil-Dallaire (Webmaster).

The National Committee members are appointed by the National President to three-year terms (Effective 01 Jan 2025).
This committee will help the National President in his duty and will nominate future National Presidents. Only the National Committee can make changes to the Rules of Engagements.

PRESIDENT

The President position was created by the founding members to assist the provincial and regional representatives in the management of the group.
The president sees to the smooth running of the group and solve any problem that arises.

The President can however, for ethical or disciplinary reasons, and further to a complaint or a description, conduct an investigation and removed himself and the group from any responsibilities to one of its members.  Any person removed from the group will then be informed by correspondence that he or she is no longer a member of the group.

In association with the President, certain positions were created to relieve the President of certain tasks:

PROVINCIAL PRESIDENTS
Provincial Presidents are appointed by the National President to three-year terms (Effective 01 Jan 2025).

These members are responsible for memberships and managing their province. They are free to create regional subcommittees under their responsibility and to organize provincial activities. When a question or a problem arises, they have to address it to the President.

REGIONAL PRESIDENTS
Regional Presidents are appointed by Provincial President to three-year terms (Effective 01 Jan 2025).

These members are responsible their region and to coordinate memberships with the Provincial President.  They are also free to organize activities in their region to promote the group.  When a question or a problem arises, they have to address it to the Provincial President.

COMMUNICATION WITH MEMBERS

Regional Presidents are responsible for ensuring that all members receive timely and accurate information. Every member should be informed, unless they have explicitly requested to be excluded from communications through their respective Regional President.
While most regions utilize Facebook Groups as their primary communication method, it is important to recognize that not all members may be using Facebook or other social media platforms. In such cases, email should be used to reach members who are not active on social media.
For members who lack access to smartphones, computers, or tablets, an alternative communication method should be arranged in collaboration with their Regional President, ensuring mutual agreement on a suitable approach.
Communications to members may include messages from the National President, updates from Committee members, information about national and regional events, and other relevant matters.
Regardless of the medium—whether email or social media—communications must always uphold the core values of our organization: Respect, Integrity, Honesty, and Compassion.
Political discussions, harassment, vulgarity, and inappropriate comments will not be tolerated and will be addressed promptly.

FACEBOOK GROUPS

Facebook Groups are created under the authority of the National President. These groups are private and restricted to verified and approved Veterans UN-NATO Canada members only.
Members may not be removed from a Veterans UN-NATO Canada Facebook Group without just cause and the approval of the Provincial President. Inactive membership alone does not warrant removal. However, any involvement in harassment, vulgarity, or inappropriate behavior may result in removal.
Regional Presidents are required to report any instances of inappropriate behavior to their respective Provincial President for swift resolution.
